Mar Elias, Mountain of Light

The vacant block of land where the school now stands was a dumping ground for huge stones. Many attempts were made to remove the stones on repeated occasions, but no one succeeded in removing the stones until Abuna purchased the land for the Kindergarten in 1978.

The Procession of Light is a joyful festival celebrated each year in November to commemorate the Beatification of Sister Mary of Jesus Crucified. The procession begins at MEEI on the Mountain of Light and winds down the hillside and through the village past the Bawardi house and to the Church. The bells ring simultaneously again in Bethlehem and Ibillin.
